Arangetram
After years of daily practice, a Bharatanatyam student steps alone onto the stage for the first time. For close to three hours she carries the full weight of the tradition — the rhythm, the storytelling, the stillness — with only the orchestra beside her.
It is not a graduation. It is a beginning: the moment a dancer is formally offered to the art she has chosen to keep for life.

The Offering
An invocatory offering to God through the idiom of dance, marking the ceremonial beginning of the performance. Choreographed as a garland of movements and brisk footwork through which the dancer offers her obeisance to God, her Guru, the orchestra and the audience.
Guru & Shishya
An unbroken line of teaching, passed from one dancer to the next.
The Guru
Anusha began her Bharatanatyam training in 1982 under the distinguished Padma Shri Smt. Chitra Visweswaran at the Chidambaram Academy of Performing Arts. She performed her own Arangetram in 1989 and has remained a dedicated disciple, deeply rooted in the academy’s artistic vision and the Guru–Shishya tradition.
In 1997 she founded Parampara Academy of Dance in Kansas City, celebrating its first Arangetram in 2001. Following her relocation to Atlanta she re-established the academy, where students perform at local cultural programs and temple festivals, and showcase their growth through the biennial production Vandanam. Shobhita’s Arangetram is a proud milestone in that continuing journey.
The Shishya
Shobhita began learning Bharatanatyam at the age of seven under the guidance of Smt. Anusha Mohan. Through Parampara Academy of Dance she has performed and won awards at numerous temples, the Papanasam Sivan Dance Competitions, cultural events, and the academy’s production Vandanam.
Alongside Bharatanatyam she has pursued Carnatic vocal and Carnatic violin from a young age, currently receiving vocal training from Smt. Kala Vasudevan and violin instruction from Kum. Pranavi Srinivasa. Her dedication to Indian classical arts and spirituality earned her Third Place in the Chinmaya Mission National Gita Chanting Competition.
This fall she begins her undergraduate studies at the Georgia Institute of Technology, pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering.

Vocal
01A passionate and dedicated music teacher with a deep understanding of the values of the Carnatic Music Paramparyam. She cultivated her skills from the age of five through rigorous practice and tutelage under esteemed AIR Grade 1 musician Alappuzha KV. Ramachandran, and continues to sharpen them with Hiranmayee Srinidhi, a well-recognized shishya of Suguna Varadhachari. She teaches through her school Tarangini Carnatic Music in Alpharetta, Georgia.
Mridangam
02A software professional based in Atlanta who began learning mridangam at an early age from the late Shri. Ramanad V. Easwaran, a senior artiste with All India Radio, Delhi, followed by advanced training under the late Shri. K.M. Vaidyanathan, the noted ghatam exponent. He has accompanied vocal and instrumental musicians and dance programs across India and the US, and was a member of the Atlanta troupe Nadopasana.
Flute
03Introduced to the flute very young under the guidance of Vidwan Sri A.V. Prakash, Mysore, he was performing solo concerts by the age of 10. He has been honored with the CCRT Scholarship from the Government of India, the Bala Pratibha and Kishora Pratibha Awards, and the AIR District Level Winner title. Offstage, he serves as a Senior Deep Learning Architect at Amazon, bridging the worlds of art and technology.
Violin
04She began learning violin eight years ago under Sri. Lakshminarayanan V Pisupati, and recently began training under Vid. Charumathi Raghuraman. A winner at the Tambura prize for Guruguhaamrta, RAGA-RHYTHM Global Competition, SaMaa Arts Global Competition and more, she co-founded Sadhana, the University of Georgia's first Indian Classical music organization, and is pursuing a Master's in Computer Science at Georgia Tech.
